Jimmy Dean’s men were entertained by a strong Bury side on Saturday afternoon in a tedious affair that ended in a 1-1 draw. An early strike from Jamie Mcgrath was cancelled out on the stroke of half-time by in-form Dion Sembie-Ferris to force a replay on Tuesday.

An early run and subsequent cross from Sani resulted in a wasted chance as Sembie-Ferris couldn’t quite connect with the ball.

Then, in just the 7th minute, the hosts found an opener, capitalising on a mistake from Crook as Mcgrath placed the ball into the net for 1-0.

Despite the setback, the Tulips maintained a threatening attack with Dan Barton testing the palms of Beckwith who produced a comfortable save at his near post.

Bury then almost doubled their lead as Max Maughn unleashed an ambitious shot that was tipped over the bar by Crook.

Johnson went close from a dangerous corner, but his header rose just north of the bar.

Then, in a thrilling conclusion to the first half, Sembie-Ferris received the ball in the box and coolly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner to get Spalding level.

The start of the second half brought back-and-forth action as both sides looked to book their place in the next round of the FA Cup.

A scrappy first 15 minutes prompted changes for either side as Jarvis, Betteka and Straughan-Brown came on for the Tulips.

A few minutes later, Jarvis played a lovely cross into the box, but Sembie-Ferris was unable to head home.

A flurry of chances occurred at the end of the game with both Betteka and Johnson missing valuable opportunities to win the game for the Tulips.

With the fixture finishing in a draw, we will now face Bury Town in a replay at home on Tuesday evening (6th October).
