Spalding United are delighted to announce the signing of experienced goalscoring midfielder Shane Byrne.
Shane joins the Tulips after spending last season with Brackley Town, where he found the net six times during their National League campaign.
Describing his style of play, Byrne said: “I like to dictate play, I like to be on the ball, and as I’ve gotten older I’ve become more aggressive with my pressing and chasing things down.”
The 33-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the squad, having accumulated nearly 38,000 career minutes across spells with Brackley Town, Kidderminster Harriers and Boston United.
Speaking about his role within the team, Byrne added: “I’ve played at this level for ten years now. You have great young lads coming through, and my job is to help develop and nurture them, making them better players so they’re comfortable competing at this level.”
Manager Jimmy Dean has had Byrne on his radar for some time, having tracked the midfielder since last season. Now ready for a new challenge, Shane said he is looking forward to working under a manager who “always has a competitive team.”
Welcome to The Tulips Shane!
