On Tuesday evening (28th July) our Tulips welcome top-flight Coventry City’s Under-21s to the Sir Halley Stewart. An exciting challenge against academy opposition in our penultimate pre-season game promises to showcase talent from both sides.
Last season, Coventry finished 15th in the Professional Development League winning just 11 out of 28 games. The Sky Blues’ most recent win was at Leamington FC where Tristen Batanwi and Nsemi Bassenga shone in a 3-2 victory.
Over the summer, they have completed many signings from other academies, including Elijah Briscoe from Aston Villa and Victor Madu from Norwich City. Another notable signing is Jack Ruddy, son of experienced goalkeeper John Ruddy who most recently played as a backup for Newcastle United.
These signings look to add quality in all areas of the pitch which will be much needed against our physical yet attacking style of play.
Jimmy Dean’s men look to build on their scintillating performance against Bishop’s Stortford as they aim to make it six from six in pre-season.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Turnstiles open at 6pm.
