PREVIEW: Macclesfield (H)

Spalding United

Read our match preview for Macclesfield.

On Tuesday evening (18th August) the Tulips welcome Macclesfield FC to the Sir Halley Stewart in our third game of the season. Macclesfield currently sits 3rd in the table on 6 points with Spalding dropping down to 12th following Saturday’s loss to Oxford City.

We previously faced the Silkmen in a pre-season friendly in July of 2024, comfortably winning 8-0 with goals from Tyler Winters and Sam Bennett to name a few.

In their last match, John Rooney’s men came out victorious in a 2-1 win over Radcliffe FC, with Luke Duffy striking twice late on to secure all 3 points.

Macclesfield have made a plethora of signings over the summer in various positions. The trio of Ustabasi, McFayden and Wilson were brought in from promoted side AFC Fylde to improve their defensive cohesion.

The Tulips look to return to winning ways after a frustrating loss to Oxford at the weekend. Jimmy Dean was disappointed with the team’s performance, saying that the boys need to ‘show courage and conviction’ when faced with adversity against tough opponents.

We look forward to seeing you there, Come on You Tulips!
