This Saturday (18th July) our Tulips face Lincolnshire rivals Scunthorpe United in our third pre-season match. The last time we faced the the Iron was in April of 2024 in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup Final where Scunthorpe came out triumphant in a 3-2 victory.

Spalding look to make it 3 wins on the bounce after impressive wins against both Rushden & Diamonds and Boston Town. However, Scunthorpe may prove to be a harder challenge for the Tulips.

Scunthorpe had an impressive 25-26 season finishing 5th in the National League earning them a place in the play-offs, where they reached the semi-finals before being defeated by Rochdale. Andy Butler’s men have enjoyed an impressive start to preseason winning 3 successive matches, with the most recent victory against Skegness Town.

Over the summer, the Iron have brought in defenders Callum Howe and Reagan Ogle to strengthen their backline. Kyle Hurst also brings attacking flair into the Scunthorpe side after making the move from Doncaster Rovers.

The match looks to be an exciting one with both teams playing an attacking brand of football and both teams in good form.
