Spalding United Football Club is delighted to announce a significant investment exceeding £1 million in the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, marking a transformative chapter in the club’s history.
This privately funded initiative encompasses the installation of a cutting-edge artificial playing surface, a comprehensive irrigation system with pop-up sprinklers, upgraded floodlighting, and the construction of a new terraced stand for supporters.
In addition to these enhancements, the club’s changing rooms are undergoing a full refurbishment by Acroe Homes Limited, further bolstering the facilities available to players and staff.
This transformative development is set to commence on 1st May, with completion by early August.
Andrew Killingsworth, owner of Spalding United, commented:
“This is a pivotal moment for Spalding United. We’re not only elevating our facilities to support our promotion ambitions but also laying the groundwork for a sustainable future. This investment is a gift to the club, our supporters, and the wider community.
“Providing our first team with an elite artificial playing surface we feel will enhance our on-pitch performances and bolster our player recruitment and retention. It’s a comprehensive step forward for the club.”
This investment aligns with Spalding United’s broader vision to expand its footballing operations, introducing new teams across all age groups and strengthening its women’s and junior sections.
The new 3G pitch and modern amenities will also enable the club to generate consistent revenue through community usage, training sessions, fixtures, and events, ensuring financial independence and long-term sustainability.
Work on the new facilities is scheduled to commence on 1st May, with completion by early August.
This is just the beginning of an exciting new era for Spalding United, and we invite everyone connected with the Tulips to be a part of this journey.
