The highly rated 18-year-old defender arrives after progressing through Burton’s academy system and earning his first professional contract at the Pirelli Stadium. A modern left-back who predominantly operates as a left wing-back, Taroni brings energy and attacking intent from wide areas.

During the 2024/25 campaign, he made his senior debut in the Vertu Trophy away at Northampton Town F.C. before going on to make his League One debut and feature across multiple first-team fixtures in league and cup competitions. In total, he made 13 senior appearances for the Brewers across League One, the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy.
His performances saw him crowned Burton Albion’s Young Player of the Season for 2024/25 — recognition of a breakthrough year spent developing within a senior environment.

A natural leader, Taroni captained Burton’s under-18s to EFL Youth Alliance Cup success and wore the armband throughout their run to the Birmingham Senior Cup final. Comfortable in multiple positions, he is technically assured with both feet and reads the game impressively for his age.
Still only 18, Taroni brings energy, quality and significant potential to The Tulips as he begins this next chapter on loan in yellow and blue.
